My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains
My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk,
Or emptied some dull opiate to the drains
One minute past, and Lethe-wards had sunk:
'Tis not through envy of thy happy lot,
But being too happy in thine happiness,-
That thou, light-winged Dryad of the trees
In some melodious plot
Of bleechen green, and shadows numberless,
Singest of summer in full-throated ease.
[extract from Ode to a Nightingale / John Keats]
The English summer is wonderfully warm and pleasant. Many houses are endowed with flower baskets which add a burst of colour and vitality in the streets. With this scene in my mind's eye, I designed the English Garden Reversible Tote. It is crocheted with twine for an earthy feel and lined with soft cotton cloth printed with a delicate sprinkling of small flowers. Happy crocheting!
